Helldivers 2: Extensive update with numerous changes announced

In a message to the community, the developers at Arrowhead announced the next major update to “Helldivers 2”. We have summarized the first confirmed information for you.

Last month, the developers of Arrowhead presented their future plans for the successful co-op shooter “Helldivers 2” and told us what the next 60 days is planned.

In addition, the studio announced this week the next major update to “Helldivers 2”. If everything goes as planned, it will be available on PC and PS5 from September 17, 2024. According to the official announcement, the update in question will make extensive changes to the game and improve the overall user experience.

Among other things, there will be further balancing adjustments that affect a variety of weapons. Arrowhead is also making further changes to the armor penetration and the armor and health values of enemies.

These are the goals Arrowhead is pursuing when reworking the enemies

The developers further explained that the update, which will be released on September 17, 2024, will make changes to the enemies. The team's goal here is to make the fight against various opponents more rewarding and to encourage players to pursue targeted strategies.

“We're reworking a number of different enemies to make them more rewarding to defeat when using the right tools, while also wanting to ensure they remain challenging,” the update announcement continues.

“Enemy bots, including the Hulks, will have lower armor, and the number of missiles fired by enemies like the Devastator and Gunship will be limited to make combat more balanced,” Arrowhead said.

“The armor values of particularly tough bug enemies such as the Charger, Impaler and Bile Titan will also be reduced.”

These weapons are being reworked

Finally, Arrowhead pointed out that weapons such as the machine gun or the heavy machine gun will be more effective and versatile after the next update. “We are also working on further improvements for the flamethrower weapons,” the developers explain.

The studio has not yet published a concrete changelog for the new update.

According to Arrowhead, a team led by Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedt is working on the community's feedback. Possible changes and adjustments are now being tested internally in betas. Arrowhead wants to ensure that the changes made really enrich the gaming experience.

“The goal is to ensure that every weapon and strategy feels powerful, responsive and fun, while also fitting into the broader game ecosystem,” the team said.

“Helldivers 2” is available for PC and PS5.
