Grand Theft Auto 6 appears in an unexpected place.
A Reddit user discovers GTA 6 in a video game store in China. A supposed PS5 version of the game is just sitting there on the shelf, just waiting to be bought. The sad conclusion, however, is that Rockstar did not release the open-world hit early in China either.
GTA 6: Within reach and yet so far
The Reddit user pando_irl asked an employee and received confirmation that it was just an advertising cover with no game in it. The owner of the store probably simply created the cover himself and printed it out. After all, it’s not yet clear whether the image of Lucia and Jason leaning against the car will even be the final cover image of GTA 6.
A look into the future
Just the picture of GTA 6 on a shelf is enough to make the hearts of GTA fans beat faster. After several postponements, the game is now actually scheduled to be released on November 19, 2026. pando_irl notes in his post that it will now only be a few months before images of the game become commonplace.
Of course, the question remains what the cover of GTA 6 will look like. Rockstar may decide to use a more current image of Lucia and Jason, such as the one used in the PlayStation Store (View in the PS Store). Many fans will also insist that the developers once again design a traditional cover with several images in small tiles.
Also interesting: The Chinese retailer assumes that GTA 6 will receive an adults-only age rating in the USA. GTA 5 got away with a rating of “M” for “Mature 17+”. In Germany, however, GTA 5 was given a USK-18 label by the USK. GTA 6 will probably only be released for adults, although that cannot yet be said with certainty.
