GTA 6: That’s why the second postponement is particularly painful

You could play GTA 6 now, but you don’t want to.

Rockstar has postponed GTA 6 to November 19, 2026. The second postponement is a bitter step for fans – especially because the open-world hit is apparently already well advanced. According to well-known insiders, Grand Theft Auto 6 is complete in terms of content.

GTA 6: All content is in the game

The insider Tom Henderson is usually considered well-informed and reveals in the Insider Gaming Podcast that GTA 6 has been “content ready” for a long time, meaning that all content is in the game (source: Insider gaming).

Insider Reece Reilly on Twitter supports this statement with his own report. Above all, the developers would now have to optimize the game and ensure that all game systems function smoothly in order to avoid a fiasco like Cyberpunk 2077 (Source: Reece Reilly).

Does GTA 6 have to be postponed again?

Rockstar also justified the second postponement by saying they wanted to give the game the necessary fine-tuning. The fact that insider reports confirm this at least gives hope that a third postponement to 2027 will no longer be necessary.

Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick now announces that he is “extremely confident” that GTA 6 will actually appear in November 2026. However, he had confirmed the previous release dates with very similar words.

It hurts, but it’s worth the wait

Wait 6 months longer! The second postponement of GTA 6 hurts especially when I consider that the game has apparently already progressed so far. Another studio would probably have presented us with the hotly anticipated game in May.

Many fans would certainly have been happy even then thanks to the huge open world and dazzling graphics. Apparently that’s not enough for Rockstar and they want to iron out the last few problems. Given the blockbuster disasters of the last few years, this is probably the best decision.
