GTA 6 will be released in the fall – but oh, if only it were the next one.

Since the official announcement of GTA 6, one big question has dominated discussions among fans and in the media: When will the new gangster epic be released?
The publisher Take-Two has in a new Financial report has now taken the wind out of the sails of all rumors about a release postponement until 2026. GTA 6 will be released in fall 2025. We just don't know the day yet, but hey, we'll just file for a whole month's vacation!
The release of GTA 6 – a long back and forth
In the annual report linked above, Take-Two is very confident about the publication period:
Our outlook reflects a narrowing of the time frame previously set by Rockstar Games Calendar year 2025
on now Fall 2025
for GTA 6. We are very confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience and our expectations for the title's commercial impact continue to grow.

It wasn't until March 2024 that persistent rumors emerged that Rockstar was internally already planning a release in 2026 and that the team was behind schedule. We checked the information back then and explained why the truth is more complicated.
Because Rockstar apparently does indeed have a 2026 release in mind – but only as a backup plan in case all else fails. At the moment, however, there seems to be no reason for Take-Two to change the fall 2025 date.

All's well that ends well?
However, a postponement is still not completely off the table. We have already mentioned the backup plan above. If the team at Rockstar cannot keep up with time – despite the home office rule being lifted – the fall 2025 period could either be maximized or adjusted.
For now, let’s remain optimistic. After all, this is the first official announcement about the release of GTA 6 in what feels like forever.
By the way, the period applies Fall 2025 probably only for the console versions of the game. The PC version is very likely typical of the series
appear later – or as Peter puts it in his analysis: A simultaneous release is as likely as a German dubbing.
It remains to be seen whether there will be more information about the game over the course of the year – such as a second trailer.
