The still relatively young gaming year of 2024 has already produced surprising successful titles that were not necessarily on the radar. In January it was the open-world survival game Palworld that also went through the roof because of its Pokémon comparisons. The PC and PlayStation action game Helldivers 2 followed later. The tactical shooter Gray Zone Warfare could now join the ranks next.

The title from developer adfinger only went into early access on Steam a few days ago, so it's basically still a long way from being a finished game. Nevertheless, shooter fans around the world are already tearing a digital copy of this early access version out of the makers' hands.

Yesterday, May 1st, Madfinger announced via social media that Gray Zone Warfare had already sold over 400,000 copies within a very short period of time. The shooter is the next unexpected chart-topper on Steam – despite the remaining problems that the title undoubtedly has and which have also led to some more negative reviews.

Gray Zone Warfare is a new generation extraction shooter and has all sorts of ambitious goals to be achieved in the future. The title pairs classic extraction shooter gameplay with tactical components of military simulations. Among other things, the game is also attracting greater interest from the community circles surrounding Escape from Tarkov.

The fact that 400,000 copies were sold over the virtual counter within just one day of the start of early access should be incentive enough for the developers to make improvements and new content as soon as possible. The makers are also considering a future console version.

Gray Zone Warfare – Trailer reveals the date of the early access start

Shooter fans have been keeping an eye on Gray Zone Warfare for a long time and now things are getting down to business, as the shooter is starting early access on April 30th.
