Are you standing in front of the broken bridge in the mountain fortress and see the chest on the other side, but there is no way across? Don’t worry: with the right spell, a little timing and a little trick, you can still get the loot. This is how you open the hard-to-reach chest in the mountain fortress in the Gothic Remake.
Reach the chest on the broken bridge
You automatically visit the mountain fortress during Chapter 3 in the main quest “The Focus Stones”. The chest on the other side of the broken bridge is particularly frustrating because at first glance there is no legitimate way to get to it. But if you think about the variety of spells and scrolls in the Gothic Remake, you’ll come up with the solution.
First you have to prepare yourself. You need a Bloodfly Scroll. You can buy these, for example, from Baal Cadar in the Swamp Camp, from Cronos in the New Camp or from Torrez in the Old Camp. You also need the ability to climb, otherwise you won’t even get into the right position. Without these two things you can save yourself the attempt.
When you’re ready, go to the highest point of the mountain fortress and climbs to the roof of the tower. Stand on the side where you can see the broken side of the bridge with the chest far below you. Use the scroll to transform into a bloodfly and fly over. Press the sprint button to gain some boost.
A notice: Note that you cannot maintain altitude with the blood fly. You can only glide while slowly sinking. That’s why it’s so important to start from this high point. You won’t be able to fly over at the same altitude.

Loot from the chest
Once you get to the chest, you have to open it with a lockpick and lockpicking. There is no key for this chest. But the effort is worth it, because the following rewards are waiting for you in the chest:
- Potion of Dominion (+4 Dexterity, +4 Strength)
- War Crossbow (+120 piercing damage)
- Ironwood
- 10x bolts
