Do you want to throw fireballs, cast powerful runes and be officially accepted into the circle of fire magicians? Then you have to meet certain requirements in the Gothic Remake and have the right dialogues in the right places and complete easily missable quests. At this point we will explain to you exactly how you can become a fire magician.
This is how you become a magician
Magic is one of the most powerful tools in the Gothic Remake, and fire mages in particular have access to some of the most powerful spells in the game. With Torrez in the Old Camp you can become a novice magician early in the game by completing the quest “The Price of Magic” and use the Fire Arrow, which deals a solid 35 damage for just 1 mana.
However, as a full-fledged fire magician, your repertoire expands significantly: stronger fire spells, rune magic and the full support of the Innos Order await you. However, the way there is tied to a ritual, fixed requirements and correct decisions. Please note the following two requirements:
- Join the Old Camp and become Shadow. You can only become a fire mage or guardsman as a shadow.
- You first have to complete the main quest “The Orc Cemetery” and Reach Chapter 3. Only from this point on does things get serious.
The path to becoming a fire magician
As soon as you speak to Thorus at the north gate in Chapter 3, he will offer you the opportunity to become a guardsman. Definitely reject this and choose this instead Dialogue “I think magic is more my thing.”
Then go to the fire mages and talk to them Milten about your desire to become a fire magician. He will then refer you to Corristo. However, Corristo doesn’t want to train you. Report to Milten again, who will then give you the book “Rituals of the Fire Order”. Read it in inventory.
Note on Milten: It may happen in your game that Milten is no longer in the Old Camp. This happens when you have spoken to Diego at the orc cemetery and he has given you a map to the Mist Tower. This changes Milten’s position to the fog tower. You will then have to traipse back and forth between Milten at the Mist Tower and Corristo at the Old Camp to complete these steps.
Learn alchemy and inscription
Before Corristo lets you, you also have to learn alchemy and writing scrolls (inscription):
- Alchemy: You can learn from Damarok in the alchemy laboratory in the same building (10 LP, 100 ore).
- Enroll: You can learn from Torrez in the side alley to the right of the mage building (10 LP, 100 ore).
Only when both skills are unlocked are you ready for the next step.
Answer fire mage questions
Speak to Corristo again and tell him that you want to join the Circle of Fire. He first checks your knowledge of alchemy and rune lore and then asks you two crucial questions. Choose the following answers:
- I think my magical power is strong.
- It is the flame of inner truth.
If you have answered both questions correctly, start with the one Quest “Trial by Fire” the actual test.
Find Innos’ shrines
Corristo sends you to two different ones Innos Shrinewhose locations you can see on the map below. You will also receive scrolls from him with which you must relight the extinguished fires at the shrines.
- 1. Shrine: Located behind the waterfall at the end of the river northwest of the Old Camp.
- 2. Shrine: Located on the cliff with the fire monitor north of the swamp camp.
Complete the admission ritual
As soon as both altars are burning again, return to Corristo and tell him about your success. He is impressed and explains that you passed the test. Immediately afterwards he carries out the admission ritual. You are now a fire magician and you will also receive this Fire Mage Robe as new armor. You also get 1,000 experience points and the Fire Mage Key.
Tip: From now on, speak to Corristo to unlock higher magic circles for learning points and improve your robe.
