The app looks about the same in Android as in the iPhone, but there are some differences. We go through them clearly in the respective tips when necessary.

Circle to Search also in iPhone with this app

While Google and Manufacturers such as Samsung, Motorola and Xiaomi market Circle to Search to quickly search what is shown on the screen, Google does not have the same opportunity to build its services into the iPhone. However, they have come a long way to offer something that is almost as smooth.

With Google's own app, you can with a simple click picture on what has been captured in your last screenshot. The Google app will download here if you have not already installed it. When you want to search for something that appears in the screen on your iPhone, simply take a screenshot and then switch to the Google app. Then there is the image as a shortcut directly in the home page.

Click on that picture, possibly adjust what in the image you want to know more about, but Google is good at guessing important items in the image, then just take part in the answer.

Take control of your Search Search

In the Google app you will find the settings menu below the circle in the upper right with your profile. There you can customize the settings so the app and your account behave the way you want.

The most important settings to keep track of in the app are the ability to save or remove your own search history. Settings that you make here in the Google app are linked to your Google account, so you change something here affects the settings even if you go to Google in your computer's browser or in another mobile or tablet as long as you are logged in. You can also get movie recommendations and suggestions on news or topics in general that you want to know more about. They then appear in the home page on the Google app. By clicking on the three dots next to the news in question, you can choose to see less of that topic or completely opt out of news from the source presented. In the settings you can see the topics that you follow actively and the ones you have chosen. Here you can also change the subject choice, remove barriers to those you have chosen and change which topics you actually want to follow.

Find what the Internet says about you – and get ongoing reports

Most people have probably at least tried to google their own name, to see what comes up. In cases where it is about personal information, such as name, telephone number and home address, Google has a special tool to give you better control.

Sweden is a fairly unique country in the sense that much of our personal information can be found online, public for everyone to see. So it is in far from all countries. But here in Sweden there are sites such as find.se, Mrkoll, Ratsit, Birthday.se and so on where you can find many details about yourself and any other person.

The Google app contains a tool to find the sites online where your personal information is available, then request that they be removed. The tool can be found in the settings menu. Then a request is sent to Google that you want to delete the information from the search result in Google. It does not affect the source itself, the website where the information is located. Once you have sent your request, Google is investigating if the information removal complies with their policy and if it does, you will receive information that the information is excluded from the search results in Google.

When you have entered your full name, telephone number and address in Google's tools for this, you will receive a list of sites found after a couple of hours, where this information is published, and then you should get notifications if Google finds new sites in the future.

Google app can much more than usual search

The basic feature of the Google app is the search box where you write your keywords, but there are significantly several ways to search. Therefore, let's explain the different buttons and which search type they refer to.

Directly to the right of the search field you will find a microphone. A press on it makes the phone listen and you can simply talk in what it is you want to search for. The symbol to the right of it allows you to open the camera to take a picture of what you want to know more about. Then an image search is made and Google will find pictures of the same or similar things. You can also add words in the next step to refine your search.

During the search field then we find four symbols. The far left lets you search with the latest screenshot or photo you have taken. It thus opens the phone's photo gallery so you can choose there. The next symbol in the line is translation so you can translate text, the next symbol allows you to get help to solve matte numbers. By taking a picture of a calculation, for example 763+90 = you get help from Google with the answer. The last symbol, the one with a note, lets the phone listen to played music or when you sing or hum, and then tell which song and artist, if any case, are behind the song in question.

Homework Help: So the app can give answers to math problems

Take a picture of the math number and the Google app can actually give you the solution.

Built into the regular Google app there is a feature that allows you to use the mobile camera, take a card on the math figure you want to solution and have it served directly.

The feature is called homework and you can find it in the Google app under the button that looks like an American student cap. The speech in question can be on a screen so you take cards on the screen, printed on paper or in a book, or you can simply write the roof yourself you want help with on a piece of paper and take it cards.

The app not only gives you the solution directly, but also explains how you count on it so that you learn something on the cup. In more advanced calculations, the solution is explained in step by step so that you can do these yourself in the future, perhaps even without the app's help.

Better alternatives to shazam: hum, sing yourself or play music so the app tells song title and artist

Best known for music recognition is probably the Shazam app, but the fact is that the usual Google app can and even recognize songs you hum yourself or sing.

The Google app that comes with Android phones and can be downloaded to iOS can much more than just search with words. It can also recognize music. It works so that you press the note that appears in the app's home page. This is thus an example of the advantage of downloading the Google app instead of just going to Google in the mobile browser. The app knows more.

With the music search you can sing or hum yourself or let the phone listen to a song that is played for example on radio. Wait a few seconds and you will then have the result presented to you.

Translate the restaurant's menu into Swedish

At a restaurant abroad, where the menu is in a language you do not understand, the mobile can come to the rescue.

The Google app has a feature for reading and translating, for example, menus into Swedish. You just need to start the app, press the translation symbol on the home page in the app and then target the camera at what you want to translate. It can be a poster, a sign, a warning text or as now a restaurant menu. The app recognizes for yourself what language it is and you can also download language when you have internet connection and then be able to use the translation even without the internet. Useful if you are in a country where mobile surfing with roaming is very expensive.
