The update can be downloaded on the PS4 and PS5. As part of the announcement, Santa Monica Studios points out that you should update both the main game of “God of War: Ragnarök” and the “Valhalla” DLC to the latest version before the next game launch on the PS5.

As the official changelog reveals, update 5.05 fixes a bug that could lead to crashes when using burden glyphs.

Additionally, additional debug information has been added to track a very rare crash when launching God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla from the main menu.

Rumors speak of further remasters

According to Xbox Era founder and industry insider Nick Baker, fans of the God of War series may be looking forward to a comeback of the original trilogy. Accordingly, Sony Interactive Entertainment is said to be planning remastered versions of “God of War” (2005), “God of War 2” (2007) and “God of War 3” (2010). However, Baker could not or did not want to provide further details about the new editions.

Therefore, it remains to be seen which systems Santa Monica Studios would like to power. In addition to the PS5, the PC should also come into question here. If the rumors about the remasters are true, Santa Monica Studios could make Kratos' original adventures accessible to a new generation of players.

As Baker explained last month, he has not yet been able to find out whether the official announcement of the remasters will take place this year or at a later date. He also left it open how extensive the technical improvements of possible remasters could be.

Even if Baker's predictions and statements have certainly been hit in the past, you should treat the rumors about the new editions of the first three parts with the necessary caution.

Those responsible at Santa Monica Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment have not yet wanted to comment on the rumors. The continually growing popularity of the series should certainly speak for further titles or remasters.

“God of War: Ragnarök” alone sold until the end of November 2023 more than 15 million times.
