For years, God of War to the flagship brands of the Playstation. But while Kratos can call the Sony console his home, he and his son went to the on the PC. In addition to the reboot of the series, other Playstation brands have also celebrated their launch on Steam or in Epic Games Store.
But the latest release of God of War seems to be struggling, especially on the Valve platform. It had excelled in many ways on the Playstation 5.
When did God of War: Ragnarök come out for PC?
On 19 September 2024 God of War: Ragnarok (buy now 59,99 € ) for the PC. Almost two years earlier, Kratos and Atreus had celebrated their official debut on the PS5. You can now purchase Ragnarök on Steam as well as the Epic Games Store.
At the end of 2022, the adventure from Santa Monica was still convincing in many places. And no, that does not only apply to ratings from the press or the fan community. Overall, the sequel was able to PS5 above 15 million times sell. The PC version of the game can currently only dream of such numbers.
We don't have any figures available from the Epic Games Store. Thanks to SteamDB, we do have a first impression of the PC release of God of War: Ragnarök. The game isn't doing particularly well, especially compared to past PC ports of well-known Playstation titles.
Catastrophic PC launch for God of War: Ragnarök?
Via SteamDB we can see how many people on average play a title on the Valve platform at the same time. So far, the peak of God of War: Ragnarök is 22,967 people who have played the game at the same time. For comparison: the peak for simultaneous players in the God of War reboot on the PC is 73,529 people.

A look at other PC ports doesn't help the latest release either. Days Gone, for example, boasts a peak of 27,450 people, while The Last of Us Part 1 36,496 can be celebrated as an all-time peak.
With all of these games, it should be emphasized that the average numbers are currently far from the highs of the launch date. Now it remains to be seen how things will be with the latest God of War in a few weeks. At least the first impression could be much better in terms of numbers.
