9 years after release, Lego is pulling the plug. The huge Millennium Falcon takes off.
The Lego Millennium Falcon (75192) has been considered one of the best Lego Star Wars sets ever since its release in 2017. The era of the giant clamping-block falcon is now coming to an end.
The Lego set will officially be withdrawn from sale at the end of the year. Lego itself speaks in its own shop of the “last opportunity” to buy the model for 849.99 euros (view in the Lego store). It is currently a lot cheaper at Kaufland and only costs 769.96 euros (see at Kaufland).
It is quite possible that the price will rise quickly after sales end on the used market. A previous model (model number 10179) is now owned one of the most valuable Lego sets ever.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Lego Millennium Falcon?
The kit consists of 7,541 individual parts and is aimed at hobbyists aged 16 and over. After assembly (which itself takes a few hours), the model measures 84 centimeters in length and 60 centimeters in width. A stable place on the shelf is therefore essential.
The freighter’s interior features details such as the main cargo hold and a cockpit with a removable roof. However, the falcon cannot be opened completely, as is the case with smaller toy models.
The Lego set includes seven minifigures that match both Star Wars Episodes 5 and 7. The ship can also be adapted to different films using the interchangeable sensor bowls.
We like this:
- + Extremely detailed collector’s model
- + Two different film crews included
This bothers us:
- – Needs a lot of space
- – No full indoor area
Is the Lego Millennium Falcon worth buying?
The huge freighter is aimed at adult collectors who have enough space and a high budget. The enormous number of parts guarantees long-term building fun, while the interchangeable figures appeal to different generations.
Nevertheless, the price is high and it can never be said with certainty whether the Lego set will still be worth something in a few years. If you want to buy a cheaper Lego Millennium Falcon with a unique design, the Dark Falcon (75389) might be worth it for you. The unique set will also be removed from sale at the end of the year.
