Full release notes for Genius Scan 7.4:

Scan editing panel

Genius Scan 7.4 comes with a brand new scan editing panel. When viewing a document, click the Edit button to open it. This new panel provides the same functionality as the previous toolbar but is more intuitive and flexible to make room for future scan editing features (stay tuned!)

New export screen

We know that you always export your documents the same way. So we’ve cleaned up the export screen to remove the export settings (making them clearer) and free up more space for your export destinations.

Document Type Definition

If you are scanning a receipt or business card, Genius Scan will automatically detect the document type and suggest certain actions, such as exporting in the appropriate format or certain editing options.

Expense reporting

If you’ve scanned receipts with Genius Scan, you know you’re getting a high-quality digital copy of your documents, making it ideal for attaching to an expense report.

We thought that we should not stop there. So, with Genius Scan 7.4 we are introducing automatic expense reports in PDF/Excel format.

When you scan your checks, Genius Scan automatically identifies them and extracts the relevant data (such as date, vendor, amount, currency, etc.). It also automatically categorizes them. You can then view and edit this data as you see fit. When you are ready, you can click on the export button and you will be able to export the receipts with the expense report attached in Excel or PDF format.

You can also customize your expense reports by adding your name, your company name or VAT number. You can also add additional fields to the report (generally, in some countries you may need to add a VAT column) or change the available categories.

We have designed this feature to be lightweight and fit with your existing workflow. No need to create an account or convince your boss or accountant to sign up for a new service.

Miscellaneous

– When selecting photos in the photo picker, Genius Scan now displays in which order the photos will be imported.

– Add an option to configure the default email subject prefix (default is [Scan]).
