Let's talk about it: One of the best aspects of working in a gaming editorial team are the people you interact with every day. Because gaming journalism is a realm of career changers, each and every one of us brings a dazzling past full of exciting and formative experiences to our desk. Many of them have to do with games – and we take a closer look at them in our Games That Made Me podcast series.
Best example: Our editor Sören Diedrich wrote a wonderful children's book before his GameStar days. He has also appeared occasionally in GameStar magazines over the last 25 years – on the letters to the editor page. The die-hard Formula 1 fan is now a permanent member of our editorial team and continues to make it impossible to pigeonhole him.
On the one hand, Sören effortlessly tests every hardcore racing simulation steering wheel, on the other hand, he can play all Mario games up and down, knows the Nintendo Switch better than his own stairwell and owns all the Zelda Amiibos.
Fun fact: Sören always chooses a new game for our daily morning meeting, which he puts as a background image behind his webcam image. And the team can then guess which Super Nintendo obscurity he has dug up again this time.

In the podcast he talks about four games without which he wouldn't be who he is today. Among other things, an MMO that almost cost him his marriage. But don't worry, there's a happy ending at the end.
