Full production starts soon – budget increased

Two years ago, Remedy Entertainment announced new editions of the first two “Max Payne” spin-offs. It was already clear back then that the release could only be expected a few years later. At that time the project was in the concept phase.

Now the Finnish development studio has announced when full production will start. Those responsible commented on this in a recent investor meeting.

The project will enter full production in the second quarter of the current financial year. The developers will really get started by the end of next summer.

Additionally, Remedy announced: Due to increased costs, those responsible at the studio have decided to increase the development budget. Publisher Rockstar Games finances the expensive fun.

An expensive AAA production

As we learned at the time of the announcement, this is an expensive AAA production. Remedy has a royalty option that takes effect after the costs have been collected.

That Remedy no half things the studio made clear in its last annual report. A similar budget to that of the ambitious “Alan Wake 2” is used. According to unconfirmed reports, the survival horror adventure grossed around 70 million euros.

In any case, the team responsible uses the Northlight engine for development, which was used in “Control” and “Quantum Break” in addition to the “Alan Wake” successor.
