The Panda, it’s no secret, it’s among the most iconic cars ever built. In every corner of the world they have always spoken very highly of the Italian brand which over the years has managed to carve out a considerable space within motoring. If then the M-Sport puts a hand in it, millions and millions of fans can be sure that a completely banal project will not come out of it.

On the other hand, for the team founded in England in 1979, the world of the automobile is nothing new. The company has been part of the World Rally for many years, in various competitions it has participated with cars Ford and, in the past, it was the official Bentley stable. It is therefore no stranger to building high-performance cars. His latest project of the Fiat Panda 4 × 4, however, is truly surprising; a Panda suitable for rallies to make one of a kind.

Which is not exactly child’s play, given that we are talking about one of the best known cars ever and anyway, any street “pandina” was chosen for this project. It took months to make it a racing beast and the inspiration to one Party R5 Mk1, the most successful car ever produced by M-Sport.

First, because it was built on a single copy (on commission); and secondly, because it is the work of the new M-Sport department specialized in customized projects (M-Sport Special Vehicles).

The details, as in every M-Sport job, make the difference. The original body of the Fiat Panda has been enlarged to allow it to be adapted to the Fiesta chassis, on which the entire vehicle rests. Thanks to this change, in theory, the cornering distance of the car should benefit. The engine is a 1.6-liter Ford EcoBoost capable of producing nearly 300 hp of maximum power; the gearbox contains five gears that are enough and move forward to make the driver appreciate a real rally adventure.

The interiors are closely linked to the old Fiat Panda, starting from the dashboard to arrive at a roll-bar homologated directly by the FIA ​​which acts as an intermediary for the driver and co-driver. The rear seat has been removed to make room for a rear wheel.
