Typically, Fallout fans keep a wide safe distance from ghouls. Not surprising, because either these critically irradiated zombies are friendly but not particularly appetizing to look at, or they want to nibble on your flesh. No matter which of the two is true, ghouls are not particularly popular.

However, things are different with the ghoul from Amazon's new series adaptation. The character, played by American actor Walton Goggins, also has a penchant for violence, but quickly became a real fan favorite.

The decisive factor for this is probably his tragic background story. Before the nuclear war, Cooper was an actor Advertising figure for Vault-Tec employed. You know, the company behind the vaults.

Their well-known trademark, the smiling, blonde vault boy with a thumbs up, is also based on him.

Fallout: Walton Goggins gives a behind-the-scenes look at his transformation into a ghoul

Astute fans have now noticed an interesting detail about Cooper that runs through all episodes of the series: The ghoul wears the same clothes before and after the war!

Screenshots from the series show the actor before and after his transformation into the ghoul. In both pictures, Cooper is wearing the same blue and yellow cowboy shirt. After more than 200 years, the good piece must smell like… well. But Cooper can't complain about the quality. This shirt can do anything.

Clothing with recognition value

On Twitter or X Some fans now wondered what reason the ghoul might have for his conservative fashion choices – and came up with a heartbreaking theory:

Cooper might wear these clothes because they have sentimental value to him. The cowboy outfit was the last clothing his daughter saw him in before the nuclear war. So if they met again, his daughter could easily recognize him.

It is unclear whether this theory is correct, but it is at least obvious. Because there is no trace of Cooper's daughter in the series. He seems to have somehow lost it during the chaos of war in 2077. Perhaps the already announced second season of the series will shed more light on her fate.

By the way, wearing the same clothes after 200 years seems to be a trend among ghouls. The Vault-Tec peddler in Fallout 4 still wears the same clothes after the nuclear war. We would also like to have such quality goods in our wardrobe…
