Fallout 4: Quality mode also runs in 4K 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and it's not a bug | Xbox

Since last week, the next-gen update for Fallout 4 has finally been available, allowing Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players to play it in better conditions thanks to the introduction of Performance and Quality modes. Unfortunately, the update was accompanied by many inconveniences, but it finally seems that Quality mode is not bugged on Xbox Series X!

Finally, Fallout 4 Quality mode is not bugged on Xbox Series

Last week, we clarified that the Quality mode did not work, since by activating or not the Performance mode, the number of frames per second remained fixed at 60. We could make this simple deduction to the extent that Bethesda had mentioned in its official patch note that the quality mode was running at 30 FPS.

Finally, as surprising as it may seem, Bethesda has just clarified on Twitter that on Xbox Series X, Fallout 4 is targeting 4K 60 FPS in both modes.

Small note on the Next Gen update of Fallout 4 on Xbox Series X. It is in fact targeting 4K 60 FPS in all modes. Performance mode is more aggressive in reducing settings to maintain this goal.

I hope this clears up any confusion. Keep your feedback coming and thanks for playing!

So it seems that everything is functional! There is still reason to be surprised, to the extent that this is absolutely not what was specified in the patch notes that you can read below.

  • Performance Mode: 60 FPS (targeted), 4K resolution, standard settings, uses dynamic resolution scaling.
  • Quality Mode: 30 FPS*, 4K resolution, Ultra settings, should not require dynamic resolution scaling.
  • On a 120Hz screen, Quality mode will target 40 FPS.
  • On a 1440p screen, the game will run at 1440p resolution, clocked at 60 FPS in Ultra settings, regardless of rendering mode.

In any case, you can (re)discover Fallout 4 now in better conditions on consoles, provided that you are not affected by bugs that would spoil the gaming experience.

Remember that the update also brought its share of new features and fixes to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC versions. You can find all the details here.
