It's difficult to find a more iconic video game rivalry than that between Mario and Bowser. Since the first Super Mario Bros. in 1985 on NES,he famous mustachioed Italian plumber has gotten into the habit of thwarting the plans of the King of Koopas who have fun kidnapping Princess Peach and seeking to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom…without ever succeeding. Mario's first RPG adventure

The least we can say is that Mario is pretty omnipresent lately. Between the release of the animated film in 2023, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and even Mario vs. Donkey Kong recently, we can say that Nintendo's mascot has not gone unnoticed. Despite all these releases, the title that will interest us today is a remake of a title initially launched in 1996 on Super Famicom: Super Mario RPG. As indicated by his name, this is Mario's first adventure in a role-playing game and it is for this reason that Squaresoft, ancestor of Square Enix known for Final Fantasy, took charge of the project. More than 25 years after the release of the original game, we are therefore entitled to a remake on Nintendo Switch which retains the details which made the charm of the experience, like this one.

A surprising touch of affection from Bowser

In Super Mario RPG, Mario and Bowser cooperate together, which explains the presence of the king of Koopas alongside the famous mustachioed plumber. In the extract that interests us below, we can see that one of Bowser's skills consists of taking Mario to throw him at the enemy on several occasions, just to inflict maximum damage.

However, the little detail that proves the genius of Super Mario RPG is when Mario is poisoned. After the spider's attack, the Nintendo mascot suffers a penalty which causes him to lose life points. Gold, when Bowser uses his ability to throw Mario against an enemy, we can see that he decides to use a mascot instead of the real Mario… because the latter is poisoned. A little mark of attention from the king of the Koopas which is quite surprising, but which contributes to the overall humor of the title.
