But, even if she is one of its figureheads of the genre, the Bethesda series is not not the only one to offer an adventure in the aftermath of a disaster. The Alters

Developed by Polish studio 11 Bit Studios, The Alters puts you in the shoes of Jan Dolski, a space miner, at the controls of a gigantic wheel-shaped base, stranded on the surface of a planet which seems to have experienced a certain cataclysm. It must constantly move to stay out of reach of the sun, whose rays carry deadly radiation. To survive on this inhospitable world and help him in his task, he can create clones of himself that will each have their own personality and story. It is up to the player to survive while ensuring the proper functioning of the base and the understanding of the different clones.

The Alters is therefore located at halfway between a basic management game and an adventure title and exploration, sometimes strongly reminiscent of Death Stranding, in a world where the player is literally the one and only human being still alive. Although it made a lot of noise when it was announced during the PC Gaming Show, The Alters does not yet have a precise release date, but is still expected for 2024.

ARC Raiders

Extremely anticipated, ARC Raiders is a third-person shooter set on Earth, but in the distant future, after it was invaded by a mechanized threat: the ARCs. The game is characterized as a PvPvE, that is to say that it makes players compete against each other, but also against the robotic enemies who have taken possession of the planet. It also fits into the genre of “extraction shooter”, understand that to validate your loot, it will be necessary to stay alive until the end of a countdown or until arriving in a specific area.

Developed by Embark Studios, ARC Raiders was announced in 2021 and was originally planned for 2022. Its development had been stopped to focus fully on The Finals, the studio's previous game. A playtest has reportedly been underway for over a year with, from what we know, a lot of positive feedback, but no concrete information could filter through.
