Maria Park, an executive at Krafton, gave the first details about the successor to “Hi-Fi Rush 2”.
Thanks to South Korean publisher Krafton, Tango is Gameworks saved. This means that the former Xbox studio can now develop the sequel to “Hi-Fi Rush”.
Even before the closure, the studio was planning to create a second part. Like Maria Park from Krafton now in one Interview with GamesIndustry announced that the studio was already working on it before the takeover. The build was about six months old at this point.
At the moment, however, development is on hold due to the takeover. The project will definitely be continued. Krafton wants to ensure that “the sequel is actually at a level of quality that exceeds the community’s expectations.”
Probably a semi-open game world in Hi-Fi Rush 2
Of course, Tango Gameworks itself also wants to live up to the expectations of the fans. Some players have complained that they only feel like they are walking through factories, which is why the team now wants to move more towards the open world. A completely open game world is not to be expected, but a more dynamic environment is to be expected. There is also talk of “more advanced technology”. This is intended to make the rhythm action feel more synchronized.
When making the acquisition, Krafton focused entirely on “Hi-Fi Rush”. Because those responsible “didn’t want to go too far,” they only adopted this IP. “GhostWire: Tokyo” and “The Evil Within” continue to belong to Microsoft.
Just the other day, Krafton's CEO spoke about the acquisition. According to his assessment, “Hi-Fi Rush 2” is unlikely to make a profit.
Maria Park also confirmed the plan to promote creativity in the company. Tango Gameworks is therefore not expected to create a big commercial hit. Instead, they should create unique and innovative gaming experiences. The development studio is to be brought into larger markets and onto other platforms.
