However, it is also important to note that it is rare for only one actor to be considered for such a large role. There were also various auditions for the role of Batman. But Nolan had a clear favorite here at the beginning. Actually it should Jake Gyllenhaal become. This American actor, born in 1980, is known, among other things, for:

  • Donnie Darko
  • The Day After Tomorrow
  • Brokeback Mountain
  • Zodiac – The Killer's Trail
  • Source-Code
  • Prisoners
  • Nightcrawler – Every night has its price
  • Southpaw
  • Nocturnal Animals
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home

In 2006, Gyllenhaal won the British Academy Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Brokeback Mountain. This film, like Batman Begins released in 2005so he would not have won this and other awards for the film if he had been given the other role.

Nolan stood up for Jake Gyllenhaal. The same also applied to the screenwriter David S. Goyer. He stated that he advocated for Jake Gyllenhaal after the screen tests that some of the actors had done. He also revealed that Gyllenhaal would have made a very different Batman. But this Batman wouldn't necessarily have been worse than Bale, that's the direct statement.

What is unknown, however, is why In the end, we decided on Christian Bale even though there were apparently two people who had stood up for Jake Gyllenhaal. At least Bale has managed to establish a modern Batman that we all certainly enjoy watching.
