Dungeons and Dragons is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024 and for the occasion, it has some great announcements to make to fans. A good way to thank such a loyal community.
Who among us has never heard of Dungeons and Dragons? Even if you’re not a fan of the role-playing game on paper, its name must mean something to you. It is a real institution which has forged an absolutely gigantic community. It is a work of such magnitude that in 2024, it will celebrate its 50th anniversary. A simply insane figure. But then, will it come with a big surprise? This is still a fairly important milestone. Exactly on this subject, we have reason to be excited.

Dungeons and Dragons is preparing a big event
The first version of Dungeons and Dragons was born in 1974, which doesn’t make us any younger. The idea was to be able to come together with friends or family to experience unforgettable stories. Given the monstrous success that it still has today, we can say that it is a real success. We have therefore arrived in 2024, and Wizards of the Coast intends to pay proper tribute to this 50th candle. What are we going to have on the menu? To find out more, we were treated to a statement from Kyle Brink, executive producer of the team in charge of D&D.
“This year we celebrate all three on the 50th anniversary of the first publication of Dungeons and Dragons. We’ll take you through the creation of the game, adapt some of the classic adventures for today’s game, visit the most iconic locations in the D&D multiverse and finally we will reveal the future of the game with the new 2024 core rulebooks, which constitute the heart of the game. We have been preparing for this event for a while, it will be a lot of fun!”

Our man makes us understand that the world of Dungeons and Dragons still has a bright future ahead of it. We will know more in March 2024, but in the meantime, we were able to get a glimpse of the surprises to come. First, we have a new work in progress called “Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth” the existence of which was revealed in 2023. If you wish, you can even discover this new adventure online via D&D Beyond. No one is left behind, and that’s great to see. But that’s not all. A new range of licensed products will allow you to stock up on your collection.
D&D themed books, clothing and games
Once again, we don’t have the full extent of what awaits us in terms of new features. For that, you will have to wait until next month. However, we already know that there are several collaborations that will arise between Dungeons and Dragons and other brands. A LEGO IDEAS building set is mentioned, as are Converse clothing and shoes. We are also told about a 3D online gaming table which will reinforce immersion in this universe. You get the idea, there will be plenty to do. New adventures are also to be expected, such as Vecna: Eve of Ruin, the French translation of which will be available in November 2024.
