The growing success of Webtoons
For several years, the manhwas Or webtoons are becoming more and more popular in the West, going so far as to compete with the manga for a simple and good reason: they are distributed free of charge. These Korean comics are most often published on platforms like Naver Or Daumwhich have become popular thanks to the creation of mobile applications which facilitate portable reading, but also thanks to official translations provided by Live Webtoon.
Moreover, the webtoons have become so popular that some are the subject animated adaptationsas Solo Leveling who has won over an impressive number of fans in recent times. But before Solo Levelingthere was Tower of GodA manwha published by Naver since 2010 which benefited from an adaptation in 2020. Produced by Telecom Animation Film and relayed around the world by Crunchyrollthe first season of Tower of God met with great success, which is not surprising in view of the 5 million webtoon readers. What is surprising, however, is the gap between the first and second seasons, which are only due to be released this summer…
Something new for Tower of God
It took more than four years to get it, but the second season of Tower of God has never been so close! Produced by The Answer Studio and supposed to come out in July 2024, the season is titled “Return of the Prince”. As its name suggests, it will focus on the second arc of the manwha and therefore on the Prince of Jahad (Or Zahard following the translation). Other than that, little information has been released about the anime, but new images were recently released by Crunchyroll to accompany the announcement of the K-pop group NiziU :
And yes, the Stray Kids will not be back to compose the credits for season 2 of Tower of God. Instead, it is NiziUanother group from the agency JYP Entertainmentwho will take care of the opening and of the ending from “Return of the Prince”. The nine-member girl group was formed in 2020 following the end of the survival reality show Nizi Project, and had great success in Japan with their first album. We can only hope that their next songs will do justice to Tower of God !
