The main actor of Squid Game has confirmed: season 2 of Netflix's biggest hit will arrive on time on the streaming platform.

An endless wait
It's been almost three years since the first season of Squid Game aired. Released in full on Netflix in September 2021, the first season of the South Korean series quickly rose to the top of the platform's biggest hits, ultimately never leaving its throne. Today, Squid Game season 1 is far ahead of other Netflix programs with 2,205,200,000 cumulative viewing hours.
Completely staggering figures that could never have been predicted. Despite this Dantesque success, the second season is still awaited three years later. Announced for this year, this new burst of episodes is nevertheless very discreet as the months go by. But communication around the return of the series should increase soon as the main actor of the program has specified the release date of this second season.
Wait until the end of 2024
Present on the red carpet of the Disney Upfront event for the new Star Wars series The Acolyte, actor Lee Jung-jae answered some questions regarding the return of Squid Game. The interpreter of Seong Gi-hun remained reserved, but nevertheless clarified the release date of the second season. Asked by Business Insider on its release date, the actor replied that it would be available next December. Information which agrees with the latest statements from the co-president of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, who assured last April that Squid Game should return during the second half of the year. The platform has not confirmed the actor's statement, but it seems more than plausible. We will therefore wait patiently until the very end of the year to finally discover the new disturbing trials of this terrible survival game.
