Exciting News for Fans: Official Announcement

During its quarterly call to investors, CD Projekt RED talked numbers. A good number of them concern The Witcher 4 and related productions, to the delight of fans.

Everything suggests by studying them that The Witcher 4 is indeed the next major game that CD Projekt RED will release. In any case, it is the one that seems the most advanced and appeals to the most people. Other games in the universe are receiving significant attention from other studios. Fans of the license will, however, have to be patient.

The Witcher 4 Polarizes CD Projekt RED

It's been almost two years exactly since CD Projekt RED teased us The Witcher 4, or Polaris as it is codenamed. An announcement which greatly pleased fans and followed a call from the Polish studio to its investors. Last night, it was through this that we learned more about this highly anticipated sequel. So, as we could have expected, this is the game that is in the most advanced state currently. 403 developers are on the subject, or 64% of CD Projekt RED's forces.

This is exciting news for fans. But the latest call to investors was also a call for caution. Currently, The Witcher 4 is still in pre-production. Don't panic, however, development seems to be progressing briskly. According to the CEO of CD Projekt RED, the game could indeed enter production later this year. Still, we will have to be patient before seeing what this sequel under Unreal Engine 5 will give. A release in 2025 seems overly optimistic. It's better for the studio to take its time to release a game that lives up to the masterpiece that was the third opus.

The Witchers are recruiting

However, there is not only The Witcher 4 in the pipeline. A Remake of the first opus, also under Unreal Engine 5, is in the hands of Fool's Theory. This would currently be in the concept phase, or in an even earlier state. CD Projekt RED, however, did not share the total number of developers on site. Once again, patience and length of time are more than strength or rage.

Finally, a final, smaller scale The Witcher game is in pre-production at The Molasses Flood. As a reminder, this is an independent studio purchased by CD Projekt RED. This small studio is in charge of the game codenamed Sirius, unfortunately rebooted a year ago. It currently employs 37 developers. Fans of the license will have several reasons to rejoice in the future. It remains to be seen how far away this will be. If only it were possible to spend entire days meditating like Geralt…
