  • ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo

An electric single-seater with all-wheel drive from the famous Czech manufacturer.

In true Škoda Motorsport fashion, the Škoda design team has created a visionary study for an all-electric single-seater: the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo. Designed exclusively for Gran Turismo, this concept represents Škoda's first contribution to the Gran Turismo heritage. Inspired by the 1957 Škoda 1100 OHC Spyder racing model, originally developed for the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Vision Gran Turismo is a modern homage to the legendary racing car, and promises an immersive and responsive driving experience .

The ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo project started in 2019, when the design team chose to revisit the famous Škoda 1100 OHC. The initial idea was whether to take the 1100 OHC or create a futuristic iteration for the digital age. After consultation with chief designer Oliver Stefani, the Škoda design team opted for an innovative approach combining tradition and evolution.

This racing concept pays homage to the legend while endowing itself with characteristics specific to the Modern Solid language of Škoda, which we find in particular in the T-shaped headlights. Without forgetting that the Vision Gran Turismo can sport two different liveries: one rather focused on the heritage of the Škoda 130 RS from the 1970s, and the other closer to the Vision 7S concept, which embodies Škoda's Modern Solid philosophy.

The exterior of the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo is adorned with sharp, clear, fine lines, as well as pronounced sides which evoke the aesthetics of current Formula E. Its design is optimized for unrivaled handling enhanced by aerodynamics. Its sculpted bodywork and two-piece adaptive rear fenders work together to adjust riding conditions and peak performance in real time. The concept features an independent arm suspension system mounted on a carbon monocoque similar to those found in Formula E to improve high-speed stability, reduce body roll and lower the car's center of gravity.

Efficiency and driving dynamics are the key words in the design of the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo. It is equipped with two twin 200 kW (268.2 BHP) electric motors, one on each axle, which together deliver no less than 800 kW (1,072 BHP). The addition of all-wheel drive with intelligent torque distribution across both axles ensures a balanced and responsive driving experience. Everything is completed by a flexible, single-speed transmission, which offers linear acceleration.

The design of the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo aims to harmonize the exterior and interior to give the driver the feeling of merging with the car, especially when the latter settles into the advanced cockpit of the carbon monocoque chassis .

A revolutionary “mobility instrument” aimed at transforming travel.

“Move people, through the pursuit of innovation with diverse inspirations”. Adopt cutting-edge technology and create a new pleasure of mobility that will inspire generations. This is why Sony Honda Mobility was created in 2022. This new firm, the result of the collaboration between two completely different companies, presented its AFEELA Prototype 2024 BEV at the launch of CES 2024.

From the outside, the concept takes a classic hatchback line, enhanced with a little aerodynamics. The car is loaded with various sensors, including a LiDAR unit at the front of the roof, and other imaging and tracking devices. The high-precision data collected by these devices is used to adjust the driving aids in a more natural way.

The doors open automatically as the driver approaches, allowing the handles to disappear. On the front grille, we find the customizable “Media Bar”, namely a digital display allowing you to express yourself and communicate from outside the car.

But the real interest of the AFEELA lies in the interior, which has countless features for the greatest pleasure of passengers.

These include a large dashboard, which extends almost the entire width of the car. The single screen that makes it up provides information about the car, but it also includes several entertainment options that can be displayed on the rear screens. Passengers will be able to enjoy music, films, but also a 3D and real-time representation of the car's environment, thanks to various sensors. It will thus be possible to admire the landscape as if you were in a video game.

The visual is important, but the concept has other advantages. AFEELA also has a personal agent that allows passengers to interact with the car via natural language. Honda's long experience in the field of mobility and Sony's know-how in audio have made it possible to find a unique solution for noise reduction. Isolated from the outside hum, the cabin and its numerous speakers provide unrivaled sound quality.

AFEELA transforms passive travel into a living experience. This 2024 prototype is a crucial step in the AFEELA commercialization process.

  • Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Sport Coupe '70

Famous in the world of drag racing, it offers incredible power.

Introduced for the 1964 Car of the Year race, the Chevelle was the first mid-size Chevrolet. Thanks to its SS sport version and the possibility of fitting a 5.4-liter V8, the Chevelle had all the makings of a muscle car.

However, by 1965, the Chevelle SS became a very capable car thanks to the adoption of a 6.5L ACT V8. It was then only offered with this 6.5 l engine and quickly made the initial SS forget.

In 1970, the Chevelle SS was called the most powerful midsize model on the market. Only available in 6.5 l, the engine was modified to become a 6.6 l. For its part, the 7 l of the high-end version was enlarged to 7.5 l.

The 7.5 l was offered in two versions, the LS5 and LS6. The first developed 355 BHP with a compression ratio of 10.25/1. The second produced approximately 449.7 BHP, with a compression ratio increased to 11.25/1, longer cams and increased flow cylinder heads. It was the most powerful engine in the catalog of American car history at the time.

The Chevelle SS 454 with the LS6 was immediately considered a standout model that offered incredible power for a road-legal car. Once fitted with a straight exhaust and suitable carburetor settings, it was known to easily exceed 493.1 BHP. It was very present in drag racing, stock category.

Want to get started in Gran Turismo 7 ? It is currently sold for €39.99 on PS5 to the Fnac.
