According to a leak, a new highly requested feature on PlayStation 5 is in the pipeline. But it does not meet user expectations at all.
A new PS5 update has been available since March 13, 2024. Thanks to this update, the sound coming out of the controller is better. Capturing with the mic, located inside the DualSense, is also more accurate due to improved noise cancellation. Sony uses AI to remove game audio and button noise. Additionally, it is now possible to adjust the brightness of the console indicator, or even guide a user through Screen Sharing with additional options. But other changes are expected on PlayStation 5.
This long-awaited PlayStation 5 feature has leaked
As with its previous consoles, Sony is keen to develop its PlayStation 5. The interface is no longer the same as in 2020. Despite all the new features, for the moment, the Japanese firm does not has never brought back a feature that was requested by the community. Being able to install your own wallpaper on the home screen. Well apparently that's finally about to change in the coming weeks.
YouTuber Mystic shared a video which reveals a new interface in beta testing for the PlayStation 5. And this includes a major change in the “Explore” tab, which is found before that of the PlayStation Store. Do not you see it ? This is “normal” because it turns out it’s only available in the United States, and not even in Canada. We don't understand why, but that's how it is for the moment.
Why is this “Explore” tab important? Because with one of the next PlayStation 5 firmwares, it will finally be possible to change the wallpaper. But only in this place… If you switch to another tab like the one where videos and screenshots are saved, your personalized image will disappear. A restriction which nullifies the interest of having a personalized wallpaper. We do not know whether or not this limit will be breached, but it is there.
In addition to displaying the image of your choice, this part of the PlayStation 5 user interface above all allows you to group several interesting pieces of information together. For example, you can see the battery level of the DualSense or a device like the Pulse Elite headset very clearly. We also have an overview of the console's storage space, its wish list, and the rank of trophies. Your friends' activity also appears here.
