This year should probably be under the aegis of the Nintendo brand with the reveal of a brand new console (unless it is for the beginning of 2025): we already know that this one will not say no to the physical market , quite the contrary.

The excitement is building
When Nintendo moves a finger, a good part of the world is in turmoil: it must be said that the Kyoto firm is one of the most influential in the video game landscape and after the colossal success of the Switch (which is still not completed), millions of players are impatiently awaiting its descendant.
The latter has recently made headlines since it was the president of Nintendo himself who made an official statement on the subject: its reveal will be made during this fiscal year, i.e. before March 31, 2025. Obviously, there is reason to be very curious about what the manufacturer is preparing and some crucial information has just emerged during a meeting with investors: no, Nintendo will not abandon the physical market, quite the contrary.
More boxes, more digital
During a question and answer session with investors on May 7, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked an ultimately essential question: with the considerable growth of the digital market in favor of physical video games, will the latter be put aside, or even more or less abandoned, for the next generation of consoles? And his answer was… negative.
Our policy is not simply to increase the proportion of download sales, but to maximize our game sales in general, including physical sales, and this policy will remain unchanged.
In this context, we need to improve the convenience of our customers, for those who play both physical and digital versions, and we would like to continue to make improvements and innovations in the future.
In short : we will still be able to buy Nintendo games in boxes and in fact, the company plans to sell more than during the Switch era. Just like the eShop scores – from which we can expect a new version, or even new services – which should also increase. That way, there will be something for everyone.
