The world of The Lion King expands with the arrival of the highly anticipated prequel Mufasa, directed by Barry Jenkins. The Lion King 2 divides

The story, centered on Mufasa's origins, is told by Rafiki to Kiara, Simba's future granddaughter and protagonist of The Lion King II: Honor of the Tribe. Rafiki, helped by the inseparable Timon and Pumbaa, reveals a story rich in emotions and discoveries. Mufasa explores Mufasa's youth, presented as an orphaned lion cub who finds himself alone in the jungle. His life takes a decisive turn when he meets Taka, who is none other than the future Scar, heir to a royal lineage. This story is anchored in flashbacks which promise to reveal new aspects of the saga.

Barry Jenkins, acclaimed for his previous film work (Moonlight), directs this film which promises to be a profound exploration of the themes of family and destiny. The music, an inseparable element of the Lion King experience, sees the return of Lin-Manuel Miranda, who, after his previous successes with Disney, composes the songs for the film in collaboration with Mark Mancina. Lebo M also contributes to the soundtrack, enriching the film with captivating musical performances.

A beautiful voice casting for the new Disney

The voice casting is particularly notable, with Aaron Pierre lending his voice to Mufasa and Kelvin Harrison Jr. to Taka. Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose and Keith David complete this star-studded cast. Donald Glover and Beyoncé reprise their roles as Simba and Nala, while Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé's daughter, makes her acting debut providing the voice of Kiara.

Lin-Manuel Miranda expressed his enthusiasm for this project, highlighting the exceptional musical legacy of The Lion King. And the joy of working alongside Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa's story to life. The film promises to not only captivate new viewers but also touch those who grew up with the original story. Despite everything, by reading the comments we can realize that it is already divisive. There were many criticisms for the aesthetics of the first film. It is the same here. Even if some do not hide their excitement either, especially in the YouTube comments.
