Dune: Part 2 Star Targeted for Acquisition by Major Film Studio for Franchise Relaunch

An actor from Dune: Part II will undoubtedly be part of the crew, according to rumors from “The DisInsider”, a specialist in Disney-related leaks. Johnny Depp will certainly not be there while this reboot already promises to be complicated.

The Caribbean resurfaces

Rumors have been circulating around the return of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to the screen for several years now. Many of these rumors, coming from more or less reliable sources, have never been confirmed. For example, Margot Robbie's name has been mentioned to take the lead in the franchise. The possibility seems to have been abandoned. However, a new film is in development, and according to Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the first five films, it would be a reboot.

Although the return of Pirates of the Caribbean is still shrouded in mystery, one thing is certain: Johnny Depp will not be reprising his role as Jack Sparrow. But who could replace this character and this actor without whom the saga would perhaps not have had its success (according to some)? According to rumors, it could be Austin Butler.

Jack Sparrow without Johnny Depp?

Austin Butler is a 32-year-old American actor. He became known for his role in a Quentin Tarantino film called Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. He gained worldwide fame playing Elvis Presley in the 2022 Elvis biopic. Most recently, he played the role of antagonist Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two.

According to The DisInsider, the source specializing in confidential information on Disney, the studio would like Austin Butler to be part of the cast of the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. Disney would even consider putting him in the lead, although replacing the famous Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp in the previous five films, would be a tall order. The insider does not provide additional details, and it is unclear whether negotiations between Disney and Butler have already begun.
