DirectX 12 incorporates a video compression acceleration engine

Until now, Microsoft has offered an API through DirectX to take advantage of graphics cards to decompress videos. The Redmond company pushes the cursor a step further by now integrating a new brick of functionality to DirectX 12 to accelerate video compression. Like what Nvidia offers with Nvenc, the DirectX 12 API manages the H264 and HEVC codecs.
