A feature that the community has repeatedly advocated for has not yet been taken into account. We're talking about supporting the crossplay feature. This would allow players on different platforms to explore the wasteland together.

But what are the chances that crossplay will be added in due course? When asked about this question, Bethesda Softworks Todd Howard replied that the developers are still keeping an eye on this feature and would like to implement it. But nothing is ready to be decided in this regard.

This feature has priority

One fact in particular is causing headaches for developers when implementing crossplay: “Fallout 76” was not developed with a function of this type in mind, which creates various technical challenges.

To make matters worse, another feature requested by the community takes priority in cases of doubt.

In his statement, Howard refers to the so-called cross-progression. This is now common practice in other live service titles. Cross-progression is about cross-platform saved games.

With them it would be possible to access and use your progress and content on all platforms for which you own “Fallout 76”. But just like with crossplay, it is also unclear whether and when the cross-platform saves will be included in “Fallout 76”.

Developers want to implement both features

Howard continued: “Here’s what I would say. Cross-platform progress saving is more important to us than cross-platform play. We separate that. And would like to have both. It’s something we’re looking at.”

“But I have to say, it's a technical challenge because of the way Fallout 76 was built from the start. It's not that we do or don't do something. “We'll look at it and see how it will affect people,” said Bethesda Softworks' game director.

“Fallout 76” was released in October 2018 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. When it was released, the title had to contend with all sorts of bugs and technical problems catastrophic reviews and user reviews. In recent years, the developers have continuously improved it with updates and new content.

Furthermore, this followed last summer an updatewhich allows you to play the multiplayer title on the PS5 in 60 frames per second.
