Developers of Helldivers 2 Push Players to Make Tough Decisions

The last major objective ofHelldiverse 2 imposes a choice on the community. Depending on which planet is liberated first, a different weapon will be unlocked.

The developers of Helldiverse 2 keep finding tips to motivate the community. Including by imposing an irrevocable choice on them, as we can discover in a tweet published on April 26. A new major objective has been given to the players, as part of the global conflict led by one man. As is often the case, it consists of freeing planets, but with a little subtlety.

Helldivers, it's time to choose between freeing Choohe or Penta. Depending on your choice, you will receive either the MD-17 anti-tank mines or the RL-77 air-burst rocket launcher ”, it is announced. Each world is therefore linked to a different stratagem and it will be impossible to unlock both (at least in the short term). This is the first time the community has had to choose one reward over another, which could lead to some debate online.

Which strategy to choose? This is the question posed by the last mission of Helldiverse 2

The Arrowhead studio found a way to impose a difficult choice. “ Only the stratagem of the first liberated planet can be saved. Citizens, too. The citizens are the most important part. Choose democratically, Helldivers “. Located in the Lacaille sector, the planets Penta and Choohe are attacked by automatons, these infamous robots who tried to make us believe that they had been eradicated. Choohe will grant anti-tank mines, Penta the rocket launchers.

The two stratagems proposed by Arrowhead do not offer the same combat perspectives: one is defensive (the mines), the other offensive (the missile launcher). One option still seems to be favored by aficionados: “ I don't know if Arrowhead Games Studio thought there was a chance we'd take the mines instead of the rocket launcher… There isn't, so let's save Penta », indicates for example ALN-Isolator on Reddit.

Conversely, LotharVonPittinsberg wants to add nuance: “ No chance of the community taking the mines, but I'd be curious to see if we can test both to see how they work. If mines ignore small targets, they could be really effective. If the rocket launcher is not capable of handling a heavy target, it might be too limited. »

In fact, players will inevitably give up a new piece in their arsenal — a piece that, perhaps, will disappear for good. This is ingenious on the part of the developers. Like the automatons, which have made their return, these situations give depth to a constantly moving and dynamic military front: the community is led to make choices together, and accept losses together.
