Developers are planning a successor

The strategy role-playing game “Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes”, which will be released in a few days, will also have a successor in the future. The developers would like to continue to honor the recently deceased creator Yoshitaka Murayama.

Next Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the new strategy role-playing game “Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes” will be released for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. The Nintendo Switch version will follow on May 21, 2024. However, the responsible development studio Rabbit & Bear already has plans for the future.

Eiyuden Chronicle will be Murayama's legacy

In a recent AMA on Reddit, the developers answered a question about a possible successor:

“We will move forward with a successor. It is very sad that Murayama is no longer with us, but we had discussed many things with him. I hope that we can continue Murayama's legacy and I always want to appreciate his final work. I hope many people will support this game.”

This question took on a lot of depth after Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator behind the Suikoden series, recently passed away unexpectedly. He succumbed to complications from an ongoing illness and lived to the age of 54.

Murayama was the writer behind the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes as well as the head of Rabbit & Bear Studio. Sadly, he can no longer see how his latest and final work is received by players. However, he had incorporated the soul of the “Suikoden” series into the new game.

The players take on the role of the village boy Nowa, who is looking for an artifact. This is intended to expand the power of the rune lenses. These house magic that the Galdean Empire wants to claim for itself. And in the past, the wars over these rune lenses had already changed the fate of Allraan.

This time too, a war will influence the future. Nowa will find himself in the middle of it all, getting to know a lot of people on his journey. In the style of the classic “Suikoden” games, you will discover over 100 playable characters over the course of “Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes” who can help you out. These include humans, beastmen, elves, desert people and more.

There are no reviews available for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes yet. It is therefore not yet known whether Murayama's swansong will also convince the specialist press. However, you can get more information about the strategy role-playing game if you are interested in our topic overview discover.
