Shortly after the release of “SoLA”, the developers at Dambuster Studios announced the next big milestone. The studio announced that “Dead Island 2” now has more than seven million players. According to official figures, these have killed more than 24 billion zombies since its release.

“These are simply staggering numbers! It was also a great honor to be nominated for Best Action Game at the Game Awards last year and recently for Best British Game at the prestigious BAFTAs,” added Dambuster Studios.

Developers are far from finished with the successor

In the further course of the official statement, those responsible pointed out that the developers are far from finished with “Dead Island 2”. Instead, Dambuster Studios is working on further updates and content, which will be discussed in more detail in due course.

“In the following months we will be releasing some exciting and long-awaited new updates to the game. “So stay tuned for more content on Dead Island 2,” the developers said about their plans. It is speculated that the “long-awaited content” could include a New Game Plus mode.

One of the criticisms that the community expressed about the release of “Dead Island 2” last year was the lack of the mode in question. Although the developers pointed out that they had taken note of the players' feedback, it is unclear to what extent the whole thing will lead to the release of a New Game Plus mode.

Is the announcement of Neighborhood Watch approaching?

Other content Dambuster Studios is currently working on could include Neighborhood Watch. The first rumors about this DLC reached us in October 2023. As the well-connected insider Tom Henderson reported, “Neighborhood Watch” is said to be a wave-based survival or horde mode.

According to information from Henderson, three players join together to form a team in the DLC. On a total of five in-game days, they compete against ever-larger and stronger zombie hordes and fight for their survival.

After each completed wave, it should be possible to choose a specific reward. According to Henderson, the rewards range from powerful weapons to the ability to eliminate certain types of zombies from the next wave.
