Although it was not unanimous, Season 1 of The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power can boast of having introduced a handful of interesting characters – within a super impressive technical achievement. The end of the first chapter, which reveals the face of Sauron (big bad of the original trilogy) even opens the way to exciting intrigues! We can't wait to see what Amazon has in store for its flagship series and particularly expensive (nearly 465 million dollars excluding marketing, for the first eight episodes). Obviously, the sequel promises to be heavy.

“We have some very promising episodes”

We're telling you this because recently, Charlotte Brandström, director of several episodes of Season 1 and 2, spoke in the columns of MovieZine (Swedish media)! It is at Widescreen that we owe the translation: “What I know and can say with certainty is that (the Rings of Power sequel) will be darker, edgier, more character-driven.”, says the filmmaker, “I think we have some very promising episodes to come”. So, overall, Brandström speaks of a “very good season” with “big twists” and “very surprising” turns.

I watched all the episodes at Christmas (…) I think it will be a very good season. We tried to make it grittier and a little dirtier – I guess… And not just in terms of the image, we wanted to make it as authentic as possible – Charlotte Brandström

Big twists are precisely what was missing from Season 1 of Rings of Power, broadcast in September 2022 on Prime Video… At the time, it was necessary to wait five years between the acquisition of the rights by Amazon and the result finale on the small screen. This time, the American company does not intend to make us wait that long. The Lord of the Rings sequel is expected to return this year.
