You've been waiting for a new GamersGlobal letsplay for far too long, but the mission “Save Retro Gamers from bleeding to death” had to be completed before the mission “Support GamersGlobal” could be tackled. Now the time has come, in a crisp turn-based tactics game with a strategy superstructure (squad movements, weapon modding, mercenary management), which received an 8.0 in the strict Langer test and is currently rated 8.6 in user favorability. And since we as mercenaries have no time to waste, all mission information is now available briefly and concisely.

The mission briefing

  • Letsplay game: Jagged Alliance 3 (1.51)
  • Virtually flawless commander: Jörg Langer
  • Follow frequency: 3×40 minutes per week
  • Episodes per season: 12 (=1 month)
  • Episode price: 160 euros in 1st season, 140 Euro in season 2, 120 Euro in season 3 and 100 Euro from season 4.
  • Live events: tba (1 event=3 episodes). Maybe we'll start with a…
  • Begin: As soon as the first season is available (=1,920 euros)
  • Goal: Play through – that means quickly and without “every side mission will be completed” ambition, but of course with enough exploration and earning money. It should be possible to play through the game in 5-7 seasons (at least 40-64 hours of playing time).
  • Difficulty level: Commando (Donor decision at the end of each season whether to increase/decrease or leave the same). Rare save/load allowed.
  • Mods: Only Chance to hit and those necessary for the special rule
  • Donor Bonus 1: Every donor receives a corresponding bonus Profile medal(s)
  • Donor bonus 2: The donors 1st season appear in the end credits.
  • Donor Bonus 3: All donors vote on the Squad names away. You can choose from “Ausputzer”, “GamersGrobals” and up to three selected by Jörg from the comments below. Be creative and let the AI enemies tremble!
  • Special Rule 1: The 3 main donors and 1 randomly identified donor appear as mercenaries with their GG username and form the initial team. Of course there is also a special medal.
  • Special rule 2: 1 user mercenary is added per season. From the second season onwards there are five user characters. The new mercenary will be raffled off among all donors, with 5 euros of the previous donation amount resulting in 1 ticket. So every donor has the chance, but the more “donorable” have a greater chance.
The three main donors and the randomly selected donor create their own figure in close coordination with the commander.

Special Rules Explanation

“Join the team!” they said… but how? The special rule mercenaries are created in consultation with Jörg (portrait, skill points, traits), because in order for the starting team to “work”, roles such as medics and mechanics must be covered and everyone must be able to use at least one type of weapon. If you are the main donor and don't know the game, you can leave your mercenary entirely to Jörg. “Silent donors” can also do without completely, then another donor comes into play.

The special rule (possible through the mod multi-imp by SkunkXL) changes the balance of the game, as the constant pressure for money due to the mercenary fees is eliminated in the first few weeks of the game. However, each of your own mercenaries costs a one-time fee of $6,999, so that after the game starts you only have $2,004 left, which is enough for the short-term engagement of a loser, er, inexpensive mercenary.

We will soon need to recruit more mercenaries; in the midgame, two squads of 6 and a maintenance squad (two to four mercenaries who heal, repair and train militias) are normal, in the lategame, three squads of 6 and a maintenance squad. So we get the best of both worlds: user participation and the quirky JA3 mercenaries with their conversations.

As written above, the number of user mercenaries will increase as the seasons progress. However, the number of team members in the game is limited to 16 (and 6 per squad). If we reached season 7, that would mean that up to 10 of the 16 wage warriors are made up of users. Since finances should no longer be a problem from the mid game onwards, I don't expect any “Imba” effects from this.

By the way: Mercenaries can in Jagged Alliance 3 die permanentlythen in the case of the user mercenaries they are replaced with the next main donor and a new figure.

There are exciting shootouts right from the start.

As usual, you can donate by clicking on the medals or by transferring money to our account. The Letsplay starts as soon as the first month is financed, the more and the earlier you contribute, the faster. To date, 100% of our Letsplay crowdfunding has been funded.

The commander's previous experience consists of playing through (70 hours) for the test at the time, around 40 hours in a game of Impossible and a further 20 hours in the course of creating a guide. However, a lot has happened to the program since then.

Understood everything? Okay, step away! Uh, wait, no: donate!
