Croatia expressed hope for the unity of NATO on the issue of the admission of Finland and Sweden
Croatia counts on the unity of NATO when considering the issue of admitting Finland and Sweden to the organization, said Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic Gordan Grlich Radman, writes TASS.
Turkey’s position on this issue is interesting, the politician said. “I am sure that in the end unity will prevail when it comes to the accession of Finland and Sweden, with which we share the same values,” he expressed hope.
Finland and Sweden wanted to apply to join NATO at the same time. They are expected to make a decision on the application on May 15.
The Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that Moscow is ready to take retaliatory steps, including “military-technical ones”, in the event that Finland nevertheless joins NATO. The diplomats stressed that the alliance “would cause serious damage to bilateral Russian-Finnish relations” and the maintenance of security in the region.
