Batmanextremely well-known superhero DC Comics, could have been deprived of this film directed by Christopher Nolan. The reason ? The director did not want to be seen only as a superhero film director. Without his brother to help him decide, or rather to force him to say yes, we would probably never have had this feature film on our screens.

An unexpected revelation

We have Jonathan Nolan to thank for The Dark Knight. He revealed that he had to convince his brother, Christopher Nolan, to agree to direct the second Batman film by telling him not to be “a sissy” about it. Christopher Nolan's brother was interviewed on the podcast Armchair Expert by Dax Shepard. Podcast in which the presenter asks questions that are sometimes personal, but above all particularly unexpected. Jonathan Nolan tells us that although the filmmaker's first Batman film, Batman Beginswas a huge success, he hesitated to make a sequel for fear of being “catalogued”.

Christopher (Nolan) was hesitant to do another one, he didn't want to become a superhero movie director.

But to me, it was like we built this awesome sports car and I said, “Let's take it for a spin. Don't you want to take another one?”

I was literally sitting with (producer) Charles Roven and Christopher (Noloan) and I was like, 'Dude, don't be a sissy. Let's do it!'

The Batman trilogy

Batman Begins in 2005, The Dark Knight: The Dark Knight in 2008 and finally The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, the Nolan trilogy is one of the director's best-known films. The first was a success, but despite this success, Christopher Nolan remained hesitant. His brother, Jonathan Nolan, managed to convince him, allowing Christian Bale to once again wear the costume of the protector of Gotham, twice. However, Christopher Nolan has not been labeled a “superhero film director”. We can thank little brother Nolan, because without him, the second and third opuses of the saga would probably never have seen the light of day.
