While Sony had stated that it did not plan to publish a proprietary license game during the current fiscal year, a new title has just been confirmed as indeed planned for 2024!

Concord, new PlayStation production
Announced during the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, Concord is presented as a science fiction multiplayer PVP FPS, the first title from Firewalk Studios. While Sony has not yet announced pricing for the game, everything seems to indicate that the company is banking heavily on the latter. In fact, during the Sony's annual financial statementand following the announcement of the 12 million copies sold of Helldivers 2, the manufacturer did not hide its expectations regarding its new IP.
Following this success, we look forward to the release of live service games such as the Destiny 2: Final Form expansion content, which is scheduled to be released by Bungie on June 4, and Concord, which is scheduled to be released this year by Firewalk Studios, which we acquired in 2023. – Sony (2023 Financial Statements Report)
Players then remain waiting for a potential new Showcase for this month of May, in the hope of learning more about the title which has since fallen off the radar. Sony had previously announced that its first-party titles would be available on console and PC at the same time, a promise that they are likely to keep given the success ofHelldiverse 2.
A not-so-new studio
Concord was revealed in 2023, an announcement accompanied by a post from the game director – Ryan Ellis – on the official PlayStation blog site, aiming to present the brand new game from his studio, sharing its trailer in the process.
Concord brings people together. The ability to create connections and inspire social play is in the DNA of games. The Firewalk team is driven by these exciting and unexpected moments, as well as the shared experiences that multiplayer games are capable of sparking. Each connection marks the start of a new adventure, and each playthrough is an opportunity to experience a new story. Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, called the Firewalk Studios team “remarkable, full of creative talents having already participated in the launch of hundreds of the most famous gaming experiences” in another post on the blog. If we do not know all the names of all the members of the studio, there is no doubt that they must have already worked on a good number of successful games. A merit justifying Sony's confidence in entrusting them with their next new AAA IP.
