The province of Chongqing in China has very dense housing developments. It is one of the largest cities in the country in terms of population – 49 million people live in it.
Due to the peculiarities of the city’s architecture, the designers decided to draw one of the monorail lines directly through a 19-story residential building. Residents can take the train at the Liziba station, which occupies the 7th and 8th floors.
Although this is a busy station, and the trains themselves are not so quiet, the building is provided with special soundproof equipment. It is noted that the noise from the trains bothers residents no more than from a working washing machine.
Some people complain about headaches from such a decision. However, the vast majority do not notice the noise. [CNN]
