Co-founder of Popular Gaming Company Developing a New Open World Action Game, not Related to GTA6

Unless you know the people behind the legendary studio very well Rockstar Gamesyou may not know Dan Houser. Born in 1974, this British producer is best known for having founded Rockstar Games with his brother Sam. It is therefore partly to him that we owe the legendary games of the license Grand Theft Autobut also those of Red Dead Redemption to recite nobody else but them. However, while Rockstar is currently being awaited by all players around the world for their development of Grand Theft Auto VI, Dan Houser has not been part of his own studio since 2020.

Indeed, a little over four years ago, publisher Take Two (parent company of Rockstar) announced that Dan Houser had left the studio behind Grand Theft Auto. Far from having finished with the industry, Houser later founded another studio: Absurd Ventures. However, the latter is not really specialized in video games, at least not only. Convinced that the future belongs to transmedia, Absurd Ventures intends to stand out from the others by producing stories intended for diverse and varied media. For example, the studio will soon release the works initiating its first two universes: the graphic novel American Caper and the audio fiction A Better Paradise.

A new open world action game on the way

WhileAbsurd Ventures is about to release his first works, Dan Houser is already looking further into the future and seeking to recruit developers for your next video game. Based in Santa Monica, California, the studio has posted an announcement to hire 7 developers, including a lead gameplay designer. As a description, we can read:

Become the lead contributor to character creation, controls, and setting for an open-world action adventure game. The successful candidate will lead a team of specialists from various disciplines to create the best third-person combat and action experience across multiple game modes.

In addition to this major position, Absurd Ventures has also posted advertisements to recruit an art director, a lead designer, an experienced art director, a producer, a technical director and an experienced technical director. While it is still far too early to know more precisely what to expect, it is therefore certain that the studio founded by Dan Houser intends to produce an open world action game. Obviously, it will certainly not be released for several years and is therefore unlikely to compete with GTA 6, which is still expected for 2025. To be continued all the same.
