Cities: Skylines 2 gets delayed again on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Xbox Game Pass | Xbox

The console version of Cities: Skylines II has been delayed yet again. While Colossal Order was talking about a release on Xbox Series X last April, the studio is now back with some sad news.

Cities: Skylines 2 gets delayed again on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Xbox Game Pass

Colossal Order has just confirmed that the development team is “unable to meet its planned October release date.” This is due to the fact that they were unable to meet their set stability and performance targets.

Dear Console Players,

We wanted to update you on the console release schedule. Unfortunately, we have not yet met the stability and performance goals we had set for the console release. In the absence of a Release Candidate (RC), we are unable to meet the October release date.

While we are making slow but steady progress, there are still unresolved issues that impact the game and detract from the experience we want to deliver to players. We expect to receive a new RC, which will undergo a thorough review in August. This evaluation will determine whether we can begin the submission process and provide a solid release date, or if there are other issues that need to be addressed.

We understand that this is disappointing, and it's not what we were hoping for. However, we are committed to keeping you informed throughout the development process, even if the updates aren't always what we'd like.

We thank you for your understanding and support.

Despite the disastrous launch of Cities: Skylines II, Colossal Order is hanging on and rolling out updates to improve the gameplay experience. For example, at the end of June, the title welcomed an overhaul of the economy system.

By the time it's released on console, we can hope that the game will reach the standards of the first game. Now delayed beyond October 2024, Cities: Skylines II will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It will be included in Xbox Game Pass upon launch. Remember that the title is already playable on PC and via PC Game Pass and that it is possible to enjoy the first game via Game Pass as well, on PC and Xbox.
