“Cheaters HATE video games and they HATE you” – XDefiant makes a clear statement to cheaters

After about three hours of playing Ubisoft's new free family reunion shooter XDefiant, I'm already having a lot of fun. Here, mixed teams from factions from almost all Ubisoft action series face off in quick shootouts.

Of course, Ubisoft is looking for bugs right from the start and has already released the first updates to the netcode. Executive producer at Ubisoft, Mark Rubin, has now announced on Twitter that further improvements will be made to the still less than optimal netcode, as well as to the camera shake and sniper twitching when shot at.

There is much to do

Optimizing the netcode in particular will take a lot of time, as “1000+” things influence it, but improvements will be seen here. Furthermore, the team is using software to collect feedback from various social media, which results in a long list. They want to work through this as quickly as possible.

But Rubin was particularly harsh in his judgment of cheaters:

“Cheaters will be investigated and banned and will not be tolerated. But as I have said many times, it is an ongoing battle, these people genuinely HATE video games and they HATE you as a player. And yes, that makes me ANGRY,” he vents his displeasure.

Hero shooter in the shared Ubiverse

XDefiant is currently playable via Ubisoft Connect without having to pay anything. In the title, the Cleaners from The Division meet DedSec hackers from Watchdogs, the Phantoms from Ghost Recon, Libertad from Far Cry 6 and Echelon from Splinter Cell. The Operators from Rainbow Six Siege will join in Season 1 of XDefiant.

Each faction has its own abilities, similar to a hero shooter, when six players face off in fast-paced battles with a short time-to-kill. I particularly liked the escort mode, where you have to guide a robot to the target that only moves when you are near it. After switching sides, the other team has to try to get there faster than the opposing side.
