Cascadia Code 2404.23 is now available as an open source font courtesy of Microsoft

Microsoft Company presented new version of the open monospace font Cascadia Code 2404.23, optimized for use in terminal emulators and code editors. The font is notable for its support for programmable ligatures, allowing you to create new glyphs by combining existing characters. Glyphs like these are supported in the open Visual Studio Code editor and make your code easier to read.

This is the first update of the project in the last two and a half years. Thanks for reading font components spread under the OFL 1.1 license (Open Font License), which allows you to unlimitedly modify the font and use it, including for commercial purposes, printing and on websites on the Web. Improvements in the new version include the addition of 1140 new glyphs, including images used in pseudographics and ASCII art, segmented numbers, divided blocks (quadrants, sextants, octants), elements for arranging large text, as well as some symbols used on outdated systems. The total number of glyphs has been brought to 9209. Also offered are the font options “Cascadia Code NF” and “Cascadia Mono NF” corresponding to the fonts Nerd.
