Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The game will be released on October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

CoD: Modern Warfare 4 – away from the PS4

Modern Warfare 4 is being developed by Infinity Ward in partnership with Digital Legends as a native version for the Nintendo Switch 2. In contrast to PS5, Xbox and PC, fans cannot pre-order the game now, but only later for the hybrid console.

Activision also makes another important decision: the older generation of consoles, i.e. the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, will no longer be supported.

As a result, the new shooter will be larger, denser and more reactive. In a blog post, Activision promises larger combat areas, more vibrant worlds and more consistent performance. The PC community should in turn have more options to adapt the game on the computer to their own wishes.

What is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 about?

This time the campaign takes you to the Korean Peninsula, where North Korea launches a large-scale invasion, unleashing a global conflict. You experience the fighting from the perspective of a young South Korean soldier named Private Park. At the same time, Captain Price returns, pursuing a personal mission. The plot takes you to locations such as New York, Paris and Mumbai.

In multiplayer, Infinity Ward promises a more precise and direct combat feeling. A new system called “Ballistic Authority” promises that players will never have to guess whether their bullets will hit.

The movement system has also been expanded and should allow smoother transitions between climbing, sprinting and shooting to give you more tactical freedom in fights.
