Some owners of electric bikes equipped with a Bosch engine will benefit from new security on their VAE.The German props manufacturer has developed a solution to transform the display into a key.
Transforming your display into an unlock key for your electric bike, this good idea from Bosch is the latest addition to the manufacturer’s Smart System environment.Indeed, in addition to its motors and batteries, the German accessory manufacturer has set up a real ecosystem between the different components of an electric pedelec system, the Bosch Smart System.Each update is therefore likely to bring new features.This is the case with the last update which certainly concerns only a part of the users, but which provides a very useful option.
Bosch VAE owners equipped with Kiox displays (300 or 500) can, once their Flow application has been updated, transform their screen into a key.Indeed, one of the properties of the Kiox is to be a removable screen that the bike owner can take with him once the bike is parked.Bosch’s idea is therefore to consider this screen as the equivalent of a digital key to unlock the electric bike before use.The option is presented as an extension of the ebike Lock function in the app.The user is free to choose if he wants to transform his display as a key, if he prefers to use his smartphone or if he wishes to have both possibilities.
Protected and personalized
From then on, the simple fact of fixing the display on the bike and starting it will unlock the assistance.Conversely, by modifying the parameters of the application, it will be possible to associate the unhooking of the Kiox with the locking of the VAE.As a reminder, the Bosch motor locking system does not completely block the VAE equipped with it, it is a safety system which allows the assistance to be cut off.Concretely, the bike can always be stolen, but its theft will have little interest insofar as the engine will be unusable.
Update 1.15 of the eBike Flow application not only transforms the Kiox into a digital key, it also adds a personalization component to the two display models.Kiox 300 and 500 will be able to modify their display and will let their owner choose the menus.Thus, Bosch explains that it will be possible to choose between 13 different screens.These two new features are available today.Just download the latest version of eBike Flow on iOS or Android.
