The story of World of Warcraft Classic continues to unfold with the latest expansion arriving next month: Cataclysm.

Here we are, the extension that will transform World of Warcraft Classic arrives next month. Exactly on May 20, the update will take the game into a new era, just like when it was released on World of Warcraft. This part of the story will allow WoW Classic to become more similar to its big brother. This release will not be the only one. Here is this year's roadmap to help you see things more clearly.
A classic from old WoW
Simultaneously with the arrival of this part of the story, The War Within of WoW is about to hatch. It is one of the sequels to Dragonflight, the extension which laid the foundations for future additional content in the coming years. WoW Cataclysm will be a real departure, as with the old WoW which went from an MMO where you have to find a peasant's lost cat to one where you have to participate in a pivotal war in the history of the game. The old WoW, much more advanced in the story, was drastically improved during this expansion. Storytelling, key moments in the story, content for the most experienced players that is different from 40-person raids. In short, we hope that WoW Classic Cataclysm will benefit from the same treatment.
Differences ?
Cataclysm Classic will not completely resemble the original expansion, however. Blizzard has repeatedly manipulated the update timeline to meet the expectations of the times. It can be assumed that some of today's technologies will be directly implemented in the game, which will allow the expansion to be more modern.
From what we know, the story of this new expansion will be the same: Deathwings destroyed the planet we lived on. Some areas will disappear, while others will undergo big visual changes. Gameplay will be impacted with the loss of several weapons, skills or quests which will no longer be available. Finally, other features will be removed in order to stick to the storytelling, the main element of the extension. However, if you haven't completed said quests, you can still play them! A server dedicated to the story preceding the events of Cataclysm is available thanks to the extension Season of discovery. This server is frozen in time and only tells old stories from the World of Warcraft Classic license.
