Classic titles from the 32-bit era of gaming consoles come to Evercade with Tomb Raider Collection 1! Blaze Entertainment has announced a new partnership with Crystal Dynamics to bring its classic games to Evercade cartridges, starting with the iconic franchise – Tomb Raider. The collection includes the first three games of the cult license, available on a single Evercade cartridge. This cartridge will be available for pre-order from April 30, 2024 and will be released on July 31, 2024.

Tomb Raider is the game that defined an entire era of 3D gaming and ushered in the classic era of Lara Croft adventures. Originally released in 1996, this adventure introduced the world to the exotic landscapes and mythological treasures of Lara, as well as the puzzle-solving platformers that defined the genre.

The sequels Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III, released in 1997 and 1998 respectively, are also included in the collection in their original versions for 32-bit consoles. The games feature many locations from around the world and are offered on Evercade as complete games as they were when released. All games use the Evercade interface, which means you'll have access to six quick save slots per game.

This cartridge is the first to use the “Giga Cart” format, Evercade's new large memory cartridge.

Accessories and additional information

As usual with Evercade cartridge collections, all three games will come on a single physical cartridge, protected in a hardshell case (numbered 40 from the red category corresponding to console games) and will also include a full-color manual. These cartridges will be playable on all Evercade systems, including the original handheld console, Evercade VS, EXP and Super Pocket HyperMegaTech!.

Tomb Raider Collection 1 will also be available as a bundle with the Evercade -R hardware line: the Evercade VS-R and the Evercade EXP-R. These consoles are also scheduled for release on July 31, 2024, and they are available for pre-order starting April 30, 2024.

Evercade VS-R controllers will also be available separately. The Evercade VS-R also supports existing Evercade VS controllers (now called Evercade VS Classic controllers) and many third-party game controllers.

There are a few key differences between the Evercade EXP-R and the Evercade EXP. Following the conclusion of our licensing agreement for the Evercade EXP, the Evercade EXP-R will not include the 18 integrated bonus titles from Capcom. These will still be available on the Evercade EXP for new and returning owners.

The Evercade EXP-R is also optimized for on-the-go gaming, as many of our fans prefer this method of gaming, whether traveling or on the couch. This is why the Mini-HDMI output has also been removed from the Evercade EXP-R and does not support TV output.

Both consoles will have access to the latest unified firmware for our devices, which was rolled out on April 11, 2024. This means that the user experience on all consoles is now comparable with the same features, with the exception of dual bonus titles. cartridge slot (exclusive to the Evercade VS and Evercade VS-R) and Namco Museum Collections 1 & 2 which are cartridges exclusive to handheld consoles.

Both consoles will also come with the same Evercade Tomb Raider Collection 1 cartridge, which will also be available separately.

With this refresh of retro gaming consoles, the existing Evercade EXP and Evercade VS consoles will enter their end-of-life phase and will no longer be produced. They will continue to be supported by firmware updates, and new and existing warranties will continue to apply to hardware purchases from authorized Evercade resellers, with usual customer service requirements. You can still purchase these devices from Evercade resellers while supplies allow.
