Does Netflix currently have no chance against Amazon? The numbers speak for themselves. How many subscribers do Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have in 2024? Overall there are Netflix around 269.6 million worldwide. Amazon is still in second place with around 200 million ahead of Disney Plus with 150 million. Based on pure subscription numbers, Netflix is still clearly the most successful streaming service. But my gut feeling says otherwise.
Is Netflix the best streaming service?
It used to be that the latest Netflix series always felt like the talk of the day. No matter whether in the Mooser Liasl beer garden, the student cafeteria at Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg University or the Freddie Mehr curry snack bar around the corner. The new episodes of House of Cards, Stranger Things and Wednesday kept everyone interested in the series on their toes. But recently the tide seems to have turned.

For a long time, Disney Plus was only able to score points when it came to series with the names Marvel and Star Wars. The program will be reduced to these two franchises, as well as the animated classics and their live-action adaptations the actual offer but not fair. This was shown, among other things, by the “best series of the year”. Although it will remain a single season, Disney Plus was finally able to move away from Disney princesses, confusing multiverses and away from everyone villains breathing heavily under helmets put a scent mark. Amazon Prime Video also achieved this.
The new series Fallout certainly goes as one of the craziest, but definitely also one of the best video game adaptations of all time into the history of streaming. The first season fell just short of the record set by The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, but the series hits on Amazon Prime Video are increasing this example also proves. What does Netflix have to counter all this?
With 3 body problem The eagerly awaited new series from the Game of Thrones makers started a few weeks ago. Certainly not a bad series, but there didn't feel like there was any hype, nor did a lot of people feel the need to post a lot about the individual episodes on social media. What I mean by that is: 3 Body Problem was pretty much lost in public perception.

Which is better: Netflix, Disney Plus or Amazon Prime Video?
Felt truths can of course deceptive be and are neither an indicator nor a replacement for tangible numbers and facts. However, in the last few weeks and months I have found myself thinking more and more often that although Netflix keeps producing film pickles and Star Wars clones of very questionable quality, the popular hits are still being played by the competition.
